Jim's Latest Interactions
I had a locker at East High. That was about it. As I look back, I really loved attending and cheering at our exciting football and basketball games. I felt the thrill of our energetic pep rallies. I marveled at the high level of academics and leadership that was present at East. Athletes like Craig Tomomotsu were my heroes. Cheerleaders like Larry Stevens were my heroes. Scholars like Craig Sudbury were my heroes. And, student body officers like Jim Brinton were my heroes. For me, I like to remember my heroes who have passed on in the confines of the hallowed halls of East High School where my locker once stood.
Laura's comment says it best. Wishing us all closure on this complicated, painful chapter of our high school experience.
I love the post from Linda Hagman Twitchell, and I encourage you to read it if you haven't done so. Her message is a good one....to share on the website our experiences with other classmates. I keep in touch with friends through FaceBook, and some of them are from the Class of '65. I'm having lunch with my good friend Kristy (Kristine) Blair Williams; we haven't seen each other for over 50 years! Randy Daynes lives in my neighborhood and I "talk" to his wife (FaceBook) on a regular basis. Patty Hollands is also in my neighborhood; she has led an AMAZING life and has adopted children from Russia! I served in a Care Cented awhile ago where Jody Monson spent time before she died; Bowen Miles was best man at my wedding; he practices orthodontics in Canada and we correspond through FaceBook. Louise Cannon and I have discussed our encounters with Ted Bundy. I plan to do more, as Linda suggested, to share about fellow classmates.
Many comments have been made, but I think that DeAnna Pickett DeBry said it best:
" there also was a feeling of "deflatedness". Yes, our glorious balloon of the Class of '65 just had some of the air knocked out of it. Each loss of a classmate over the years leaves us all feeling emptier, sadder, and closer to earth."
It is a shock to us because we somehow think that people whom we hold dear will forever remain with us. And they do, in certain ways, and in our memories.
I have survived many potentially lethal health issues, including cancer, yet I remain here without my dear husband to sustain me. So there is obviously more that I need to do, even if it's just to be a loving mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother. I think that Jim perhaps ran faster and accomplished more in this life than the rest of us, and it was time for him to move on to his next opportunity to serve, which I firmly believe that he is doing.
Well said, Sally!! Me too!!! THANKS.
"If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." So I won't.
This is a sad morning to learn about Jim's passing. He was the life of the party at the dedication of Class of 65 50 year reunion gift to East High School. He was a great leader with a lot enthusiasim in whatever he did. He made everyone feel welcome and tried to interact with everyone. You will be missed. I know you are having a great reunion with your loved ones!
Ted
Over the years, I had the pleasure to call Jim a friend. He was gracious and warm and he always treated others well. It's hard to know that he is gone--the man who had everything going for him. In every sense, he was a superlative and a star. I am shocked and saddened by the news of his passing. My sincere condolences to his family. RIP Michael
Happy Birthday hope you are having an awesome day and using up some of your fun tickets.
Larry Stevens will always be remembered as our 'cheerleader' in every sense of the word. Always upbeat and enthusiastically encouraging each of us to reach our full potential, Larry was an inspiration for East High School excellence as he cheered us on. Thank you Larry

Again thanks for all your efforts. There are many of us who read all of the blogs but don’t take time to respond. You have been especially conscientious in keeping things afloat. THANKS!
Hello Jim, I would like to discuss the proposed reunion next year, my email is smithst123@gmail.com then we can exchange mobile phone numbers? I spent some time with Carol this afternoon, we discussed some possibilities. Steve

Yes. I for one would be interested in a 55 year celebration. Let me know what I can do to support the team approach in organizing this event.
