Joan Knudsen Connolly

After leaving East High, I attended BYU, where I met and married my husband.....Dean Connolly from Boise ID. He served a mission to Ireland, and I dated and "waited" and upon his return we were married. We were dorm parents for a short time in Whitney Hall at BYU before moving to a small town south of Chicago so Dean could attend Dental School. Four years later, we moved back to Salt Lake with our 3 little boys and he started his dental practice. I have loved being a mom and raising our children. Half of them went to Highland and the last half went to EAST. On Oct 10, 2014, our youngest son was married and it was wonderful! Weddings are the BEST! He and his new bride attend BYU where she runs track for the Y.

Dean and I are currently co-Presidents of a non-profit organization: MARRIAGE AND FAMILY ENRICHMENT. For the last 36 years we have taught and presented MARRIAGE ENRICHMENT WEEKENDS. MARRIAGE ENRICHMENT founded by Victor and Lois Cline, and we attended shortly after they first started doing them. About a year later, we were invited to join this group of couples and have been presenting on these weekends for some 36 years now in Provo, Utah, as well as in several states around the country. All of the couples involved donate our time and thus we can keep the cost of the weekend to just the expenses of the hotel and meals and supplies. It has been a wonderful labor of love, a passion and a hobby for us for many years. You should check it out on our website:

Dean is currently a Young Single Adult Bishop and that keeps us busy! We love it and love the young people in our ward.

Life is not slowing down....but life IS very good! I have lots of great memories of EAST HIGH and wonderful friends. I can hardly believe our 50 year reunion is coming up! I look forward to seeing all of you again!

I have lots of memories.....I will never forget when the announcement came over the PA that President Kennedy had been shot.....I am sure you all can remember exactly what class you were in and what a shock it was.....I might have to think about a funny story!!!

I do remember tons of fun times in orchestra under Dow Young...participating in the string sextet, and performing for the musicals and going on trips to California! Love all of you fellow orchestra members!
