Clifton Louis Cook, age 81, passed away peacefully January 8, 1993, at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Born in Salt Lake County January 2, 1912, the son of Ernest Severn and Annie Elizabeth Fayter Cook.  Married Maurine Stokes in 1931; solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 17, 1932.  Taught school in Utah for more than 38 years (27.5 years at East High School).  He taught the first advanced placement calculus class taught in Utah, and taught calculus for the U of U Extension Division.  Past president of the Salt Lake Teachers Association, he helped organize the Salt Lake Teachers Credit Union, then served on the credit committee for 19 years.  Life member of the National Education Association, and served as the Utah delegate for the NEA.  Worked as a volunteer during the income tax season.Active member LDS Church.  He served in many positions, including a mission in the Northern States under Presidents Romney and Hinkley; on the Mill Creek Stake High Council; stake clerk in the Salt Lake Holladay North Stake; and a mission with his wife in the visitor center in Ogden and St George.  He was also a life member of the Utah Genealogical Assoc.  and was their secretary/treasurer for a number of years.  He was active in politics in the Democratic party.

Survived by his wife, Maurine; three sons, Louis S.  (and Emily Trejo), C.  Arvin (and Darlene Johnson) and Maurice D (and Marjorie Buck), Cook; three daughters, Ruby G.  (and John K.) Crandall, Ruth L.  (and George) Lohr, Rebecca J.  (and Kelly P.) Beck; 27 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren.  Preceded in death by brother, Eugene.
