Steve Stonehocker

Stephen D. Stonehocker USMC Retired Stephen "Stone" Stonehocker, was born to Earl F. and Eva M. Stonehocker in Milford, UT on July 1, 1947. Stephen passed away on April 3, 2012. After the family moved to Salt Lake, Steve graduated from East High in 1966 and in July joined the United States Marine Corps, serving as an Air Traffic Controller and earning the rank of Corporal before medical retirement. In 1969 he married Deborah (later divorced) and they had Shannon (later adopted by her stepfather). In 1973 he married Kathryn Jackson (later divorced) and her son, Jeff. Their daughter Stefanie became Steve's greatest love and treasure. The young family traveled extensively, living in Arizona, California and Hawaii. Stone had a passion for music and musical instruments. He made guitars with B.C. Rich and jammed for many years, in many venues, on the keyboard, guitar and his vest full of harmonicas. He was always tinkering, taking apart and mostly, putting together. In recent years, Stone enjoyed his bright white Gold Wing with the globe and anchors on the back of the bike and the front of his black cowboy hat. He was a gregarious and fun loving man with friends from Willie's to the monastery in Huntsville to the Hall. He had his struggles but he had his triumphs as well. He was very intelligent and articulate, with a unique wit and perspective. Steve is survived by daughter Stefanie Musy-Verdel (Thierry), siblings Earl P. Stonehocker (Gayle), Robert B. Stonehocker, Clarence E. Stonehocker (Julie), all of SLC, and Margaret Schmidt of St. Paul, MN. He rejoins his parents and many great friends.
