Joan Fielding (Hodges)

Joan Fielding Hodges    1946-2021

Joan passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family January 30, 2021 after battling liver failure. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, December 8, 1946 to Jane “Jennie” D. Berryman Petterson. She never knew her birth father, though she bore his name. She was raised by her single mother and 4 half siblings, Dorothy, Frank, Shirley & George Petterson. At the age of 7 her mother married C. Howard Bryant, whom she called “her daddy”.

Joan left home shortly after graduating from East High School, Salt Lake City to Garden Grove, California. There she met James “Jim” Hodges. That union brought his two sons, Ron & Danny Hodges and then added to their family 2 daughters Tiffany and Amy. They later divorced.

Soon after, she met her soulmate, Max King. That union brought 2 more children Brandy and Jerrimy King. She loved her children and kept in contact with all of them throughout the years. They moved their family to Colorado Springs, Colorado.

After moving to Colorado Joan held a successful career that she retired from after 20 years in early January 2021. She loved all things outdoors. Everything from camping to fishing to just enjoying just the scenery. Her favorite animal was the moose. She enjoyed every moose she ever got and couldn’t get enough of them! Joan was crafty and made so many things for everyone, cross stitching, crochet, sewing, blankets, pillows etc. if you could name it she could do it and teach it too. She enjoyed going to get her nails done, she had a new design every time. She made sure to attend as many family functions, celebrations, games, and barbeques she could! She was a big family person and family was the world to her. She was the glue that held many of us together. She loved all and she loved with all she had. Joan had such a fulfilling life and she left a mark on everyone she met in her life.

Joan is survived by Max King, her children Tiffany Hodges, Amy Thacker, Ron & Lynn Hodges, Danny Hodges, Brandi & Brad German, Jerrimy & Carmelita King. Her Grandchildren Tyler & Ashley Hodges, Anthony & Ashlie Hodges, Heather and Timothy Thacker , AJ & Haley Harris, Taylynn & Ryan Curtis, Jerrimy King Jr., Leann Tafoya, and Kaiden & Kaleb German. Great-grandchildren Bella, Kairi, & Eratrea Hodges. Mylee Guzman and Anthony Hodges Jr. And Delilah Cid. Her sister Dorothy P. Hale, nieces and nephews.

Joan is proceeded in death by her parents, her brothers Frank and George Petterson, sister Shirley P. Bone, Son-in-law Brad Thacker, Great-Grandson Jamison Hodges.

Rest In Peace, Nana. We love you!
