Valerie was a brave, sweet, kind, loving person. She loved everyone and everything. She loved her family, friends, and pets. She loved life. Valerie faced many challenges in life but she did so with courage and dignity. Valerie passed away from kidney failure. All who knew her miss her very much. Valerie Fernley Giovacchini passed away February 3, 1996. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was born January 15, 1947 in Washington, D.C. to Ed and Wilva Fernley, the second of four children. Her mother Wilva preceded her in death. She married Pat Giovacchini, later divorced.Her life was filled with many challenges, including being on dialysis for 25 years. Valerie received many awards such as Outstanding Patient, awarded by NAPHTA in 1991. She worked for the University of Utah and was commended for her work at the STAT lab. Survived by father, Ed (Barbara), sons, Sam (Mary), Greg (Pam), Kevin (Geri), and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 7, 1996, 11 a.m. at Mountain View Memorial Estates, 3115 East 7800 So., where friends may call Tuesday 6-8 p.m. Interment, Mountain View Memorial Estates.

Valerie was a lot of fun in high school. Unfortunately I didn't see her after graduation.
