In Memory

Don Swenson

Donald Swenson 1947 ~ 2018
Don left us, sooner than we expected, on October 21, 2018, in St. George, Utah.  We won't see him every day, but he will be with us always and forever. He will see what we see and will experience all that we experience. He was, and is, our strength and our zest for life!

An avid early riser, Don lived for beautiful sunrises, but equally cherished rich sunsets. He loved long drives and vacationing with his family, especially to his favorite spots: The Grand Tetons (particularly in the Fall when he could hear the Elk bugling over Jenny Lake) and the Oregon Coast (for its agate strewn coastline and endlessly fascinating tide pools). He lived and breathed the game of Golf and loved "cruising" in the Shelby Cobra he and a friend built. He thrived off of hard work, friendship, and never giving up - no matter what life presented to him. You'd be truly hard pressed to ever find a more honest, caring, hard-working man with greater integrity and determination (not to mention his quick wit).

Don was born on June 16, 1947, to Leola and Stan Swenson. He graduated from East High School in 1965 and attended the UofU. He worked at Husky Oil for 10 years before starting Swenson Bros. Construction with his older brother. In 1977 he married his high school sweetheart, Peggy, who he will be with forever more. Don always put his family first and along with Peggy, proudly raised two exceptional girls that he loved and supported unconditionally. He also shared a very special "Daddo" bond with his 2yr old granddaughter, Bowie.

Don lives on in the hearts of his wife Peggy, his daughter Morgen (Jesse) Dean, daughter Merin Swenson, granddaughter Bowie Dean, sister Carol (Bill) Jones, whom he was extremely close to, along with his older brother Val (Nancy) Swenson.

Yes, we all know he would rather be golfing right now, and we are sure that is what he is doing ... shooting an under par game and finally getting that elusive hole in one, somewhere beyond the stars.

A Celebration of Life open house will be held Saturday, November 10 at the Willow Creek Country Club from 5:00-8:00 pm (8505 Willow Creek Drive, Sandy, UT). Champagne toast and a chance to share your special memories at 6:00 pm. Hors D'oeuvres will be served. Cash bar available. In lieu of flowers, please bring your favorite golf ball with your name on it, to donate to an art project we will make in honor of Don.  You will always be a part of us, Don ... Love forever, Skinny, Mo-do, Mer-do, and Bowie.
