Monte Hancock

Monte Reid Hancock    1946 ~ 2023

Monte Reid Hancock, beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully in his home in Kearns, Utah on Saturday, July 1, 2023, having recently celebrated his 77th birthday.

He was born on June 15, 1946, in Blackfoot, Idaho to Reid and Mae Hancock, who later moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. Monte is the oldest of three children, Vicki (Don) Hiddleson and Jolene Moses. Monte was a graduate of East High School, class of 1965.

He married the love of his life, Sherry Gough on April 10, 1971, they had been married 52 years.

Monte was a polio survivor. He retired from L-3 Communications after 33 years. Monte loved fishing and being outdoors. He was honest and strong and taught his children to be the same.

He loved his family unconditionally and had a special love for each of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife and three children Steve (Michelle) Hancock, April (Shawn) Wixom, Angie (Jared) Mickelsen.

He had seven grandchildren that he adores with all his heart, Victoria, Alyssa, Zachary, Sydnie, Logan, Ryland, and Avery, and one great grandson Easton.

Run like the wind dad….

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 10, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Broomhead Funeral Home 12600 South 2200 West, Riverton, Utah. A viewing will be held 1 hour prior to the services from 10:00 to 10:45 AM at the same location. Interment will be Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at 12:00PM at Rockland Valley View Cemetery, 1000 East Shoshone Street, Rockland, ID.

Oh Monte was such a great guy!  Always a smile.  Even though I didn't know him very well, he made everyone around him feel good.

I worked with Monte for about 30 years at L3. Monte never complained about his situation and always had a smile on his face. I'm not sure I could be as brave as Monte was. I'm sure his family will remember him as the best a person could be. 😢
