Marlene Dent (Larkin)

Marleen Dent Larkin April 23, 1947 - May 12, 2015 Marleen Dent Larkin, 68, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend passed away, Tuesday, May 12, 2015, surrounded by her family and loved ones, after enduring a courageous battle with breast cancer.

Born April 23, 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Arthur J. and Esther K. Jessen Dent. Graduated from East High School in 1965. She worked for First Security Bank for many years, where she formed many lifelong friendships. Marleen helped raise and care for many of her nieces and nephews throughout her life, whom she dearly loved. She married Robert Alma Larkin, December 28, 2004, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having served a mission with her husband Bob in the Utah Salt Lake Mission.

Marleen's passion in life was her family and friends. She never took time out for herself, she was always serving others. She had an understanding heart as those around her grew to know. She enjoyed spending time with loved ones whether traveling, shopping, lunches, dinners or at home having quality time with others.

She is survived by her loving husband; children, Rob (Robyn), Lisa (John) West, Alison (Dave) Keddington, and David; 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Kathleen (Clarence) Harmon; brother, Arthur J. "Art" (Arvella) Dent; cousins; all her special nieces, nephews and their families. Preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ann Marsh; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Mark West; and her wonderful dog "Teddy Bear" who passed away days before her.

Marleen's family would like to thank those who helped care for her, Diane, Jennifer, Jane, Dr. Elizabeth M. Prystas, and her nurse Kathy.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 16th, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Foothill 1st Ward, 1933 South 2100 East. Friends and family may call Friday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, and Saturday at the ward from 11:30 am to 12:45 pm prior to services.
